Emdeon to acquire Altegra Health for $910M: 5 insights

Revenue cycle management company Emdeon is set to acquire analytics vendor Altegra Health for $910 million, according to a Health Data Management report.

Here are five insights into the transaction.

1. Emdeon intends to acquire Altegra with a combination of cash and proceeds from new debt and equity financing, according to the report.

2. The transaction, subject to antitrust review, is expected to reach completion in the third quarter of this year.

3. Emdeon’s Intelligent Healthcare Network clearinghouse operation processed approximately 8.1 billion transactions last year. The company hopes Altegra’s cloud-based analytics tools will help customers optimize financial performance and improve patient experience, according to the report.

4. Altegra operates in all 50 states. The company partners with Medicare Advantage, Managed Medicaid plan and health plans operating on commercial exchanges.  

5. Last year, Emdeon acquired Change Healthcare, a healthcare consumer engagement vendor, for $185 million.
