The Connecticut Banking Commissioner imposed a $100,000 fine on a debt collection company that repeatedly made calls to a hospital’s emergency line.

West Seneca, N.Y.-based Omnipoint Management Solutions continued to communicate with a Connecticut hospital’s staff through the hospital’s emergency medical phone line even after staff explained it was an emergency line, according to the order. Hospital staff requested that the company stop calling the line.

The debt collection company also did not hold a Connecticut consumer collection license.

In addition to the fine, Omnipoint was issued a cease and desist order.
