CMS Survey: 72% of Providers Satisfied With Medicare Contractors

Roughly 72 percent of healthcare providers said they were satisfied or very satisfied with their Medicare contractor’s overall performance, according to CMS’ 2011 Medicare Contractor Provider Satisfaction Survey (pdf).

The MCPSS, which is conducted every year, was sent to roughly 30,000 randomly selected Medicare providers, including hospitals. Other results include the following:

•    Of hospitals surveyed, 77.4 percent were satisfied with contractor performance.
•    End-stage renal disease providers (15.7 percent) and Federally Qualified Health Centers (15.6 percent) were most dissatisfied with contractor performance.
•    By business function, respondents were most dissatisfied with provider enrollment (28.4 percent). Roughly 75.7 percent of respondents were satisfied with provider audit and reimbursement, the highest of any business function.
