Beginning June 1, Cleveland Clinic will reschedule nonemergency, outpatient appointments for patients who cannot make their copay before or at check-in.
Services included in this policy change are scheduled office visits, diagnostic tests and procedures, according to the health system’s website. Medicaid beneficiaries will not be affected.
Emergency care, surgeries, inpatient hospital stays and cancer treatments are excluded, as well as urgent or express care visits “at this time,” Cleveland Clinic said.
Health policy experts told cleveland.com the new policy will disproportionately be felt among older adults, low-income individuals and patients with long-term or serious health conditions requiring regular doctor visits.
