Cleveland Clinic commits $7.5M to fund green projects

The Cleveland Clinic has established the largest Green Revolving Fund in the healthcare industry. The health system will commit $7.5 million to fund efficiency projects to reduce energy consumption, and then reinvest the money saved from the changes into future green projects.

"The establishment of this fund strengthens Cleveland Clinic's commitment to reducing our energy usage and serves as a catalyst for future projects to further reduce our impact on the environment," said Jon Utech, senior director for the Cleveland Clinic Office for a Healthy Environment. "As a leader in healthcare, we are continually looking for ways to improve the health of the communities we serve and reduce our operating costs in order to make care more affordable for our patients."

The dedicated fund will help Cleveland Clinic meet energy conservation and overall sustainability goals set by the health system for itself, as well as the goals outlined in President Barack Obama's Better Buildings Challenge.
