The projects are designed to increase care, especially in the least restrictive, community-based settings, with community wellness/youth prevention centers, outpatient treatment for substance use disorders, school-linked health centers and outpatient community mental health clinics, according to a Dec. 7 news release from Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office.

The release highlighted four of the projects that will receive funding:

  • $57.54 million for an acute psychiatric care hospital in Los Angeles.
  • $27.6 million to treat substance use disorder and increase slots and beds in Orange County.
  • $9.3 million to fund an adult residential treatment facility in Watsonville.
  • $7.9 million to fund a community mental health outpatient clinic in Hoopa.
