California Releases Annual Health Plan Report Card

California’s Office of the Patient Advocate released its annual ratings of the largest health plans in the state, showing better care for children but troubles in managing chronic adult conditions, according to a report by the Los Angeles Times.

HMOs had high patient satisfaction rates, with Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente leading the pack with the only perfect rating. Among PPOs, Cigna and UnitedHealthcare topped the list with three-star ratings of a possible four.
