Brown Health reports $4.4B in revenue, 0.9% operating margin in FY25 — 5 things to know

Providence, R.I.-based Brown University Health — formerly known as Lifespan — reported $4.4 billion in revenue and a 0.9% operating margin for the fiscal year ended Sept. 30, 2025, as it continues efforts to stabilize finances and grow through its academic health partnership with Brown University.

Five things to know:

1. Total operating revenues reached $4.4 billion in fiscal year 2025, up from $3.5 billion the year prior, according to financial documents published Dec. 18.

2. Operating income was $41.1 million, compared to $44.7 million in fiscal 2024. Net income was $259.5 million, up from $148.7 million. 

3. As of Sept 30, 2025, Brown Health had $1.2 million in long-term debt and $4.6 billion in total assets. 

4. Rebranding and academic integration efforts continued in 2025, following Lifespan’s transition to Brown University Health. The system operates three teaching hospitals, a community hospital, a behavioral health provider, and a network of outpatient and primary care facilities.

5. Brown Health Medical Group on Oct. 1 merged with Brown Physicians, a multispecialty practice group led by faculty affiliated with Brown University’s medical school. The merger unified more than 1,500 providers across Rhode Island and the region. Brown Physicians contributed more than 500 physicians to the group.
