Fifteen shooting victims were brought to two of Broward Health’s trauma facilities and three of those patients remain hospitalized, according to the Sun Sentinel.
The foundation is seeking donations from current contributors, the general public and community partners. The money raised from the campaign will be combined with funds already collected from an employee giving campaign.
“We are overwhelmed by the generosity of our employees, physicians and many others to help our community heal,” Beverly Capasso, Broward Health president and CEO, told the Sun Sentinel.
All of the funds raised will go to the victims and their families and the foundation will form a committee to help distribute the funds appropriately, Jennifer Smith, Broward Health’s director of corporate communications, told Becker’s.
“[The] Broward Health Foundation is forming a committee that will work with the National Center for Victims of Crime, which will help guide the Foundation on how funds should be distributed,” she said.
