Five things to know:
1. Second-quarter revenue for the 49-hospital system increased 8.7% year over year to $3.25 billion, according to financial documents published Aug. 28.
2. Operating EBITDA improved to $216.3 million (6.7% margin) and $428.7 million (6.5% margin) for the three- and six months ended June 30, 2024, respectively. Bon Secours Mercy attributed the increase to rising patient volumes and the effects of run-rate improvements.
3. Second-quarter expenses increased 5.5% year over to $3.22 billion, with labor costs decreasing 1.2% to $1.55 billion.
4. Days cash on hand was 210 as of June 30, compared to 221 on Dec. 31, 2023.
5. Bon Secours Mercy reported a net income of $143.1 million for the second quarter, compared to a $25.2 million net loss for the same period in 2023.
