The AMA insists the Oct. 1, 2014 ICD-10 implementation is only “increasing bureaucratic and financial burden on physicians.”
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services are responsible for determining the ICD-10 compliance date, which has already been pushed back one year after objections from practitioners. The AMA was not satisfied by the resolution and believes ICD-11 is a better use of physician and government resources.
The AMA says it’s committed to “vigorously” opposing the implementation of ICD-10 and will release its own feasibility report on jumping directly to ICD-11 in June 2013.
