Ivy Creek Healthcare in Georgiana, which owns the hospital, cited growing costs and reimbursement cuts as the reason for the closure. Ivy Creek CEO Mike Bruce said the hospital is shutting down sooner than expected “to maintain the quality of care,” according to the report.
“This decision was not made lightly; it is very important to close the hospital fully staffed and with the quality care we have always offered,” he said.
Ivy Creek’s rural health clinics will remain open after Georgiana Medical Center closes. The clinics will be managed by LV Stabler Memorial Hospital in Greenville, Ala. Ivy Creek and LV Stabler will also combine their home health operations.
