AHA develops price transparency toolkit

The American Hospital Association has developed a toolkit for members to help them improve how they communicate pricing information with patients and their community.

As part of the toolkit, which is available through AHA’s Community Connections blog, hospitals may take a quiz to identify where their organization is doing well and where it may need to improve. Additionally, the toolkit provides nine case examples so hospitals can see other organizations’ work with price transparency. It also provides examples of Web-based tools from hospitals, health systems and state hospital associations that allow consumers to find price estimates.

According to AHA, the ultimate goal with the toolkit is “to spark conversation and action by allowing hospitals to assess their current efforts and learn from others through case examples and sample price transparency tools.”
