Advocate Health Care Tops $600M in Charitable Care

Advocate Health Care, an 11-hospital system based in Downers Grove, Ill., provided roughly $614 million in charity care and community benefits in 2012, an increase of $43 million from 2011.

Of that total, $104 million went toward free and reduced charity care for uninsured and underinsured patients. Losses from Medicare and Medicaid totaled $330 million.
