80,000 Cover Oregon Customers Must Re-Enroll Through Federal Exchange

More than 80,000 of the people who signed up for private health insurance plans through Cover Oregon will have to re-enroll with HealthCare.gov in November.

In April, the board overseeing Oregon's health insurance exchange voted to abandon the state-run exchange site in favor of relying on the federal exchange.

The re-enrollment requirement has caused concern for many individuals who purchased the private plans because four of the insurance companies that offered private plans through Cover Oregon do not offer their plans through the federal exchange. Those insurance companies are Trillium, Providence, Health Republic and Oregon's Health Co-op, according to a KATU report.

Oregon should be fully operating on the federal system by Nov. 15, the day open enrollment for 2015 begins.
