CMS has fined hospitals in Arkansas and Louisiana for alleged price transparency violations, according to a June 5 update on its enforcement website.
Paragould-based Arkansas Methodist Medical Center was fined $309,738 for its alleged violations. The 114-bed hospital was allegedly noncompliant for 247 days (Sept. 9, 2024 to May 13, 2025). The fine is the largest CMS has issued to a hospital in 2025 and the sixth-highest overall.
New Orleans-based Community Care Hospital was fined $93,214 for its alleged violations. The 38-bed hospital was allegedly noncompliant for 223 days (Oct. 3, 2024 to May 13, 2025).
The hospitals have 30 days from the issuance date to appeal their fines.
Overall, CMS has now fined 27 hospitals for price transparency violations. Ten of the fines have been issued in 2025.
CMS updated its hospital price transparency guidance May 22, requiring hospitals to post the actual prices of items and services, not estimates. The update comes after President Donald Trump issued an executive order Feb. 25 aimed at boosting healthcare price transparency.
