One of the health insurers will be Presbyterian Health Plan, which is the insurance arm of Albuquerque-based Presbyterian Healthcare Services, an eight-hospital system and New Mexico’s largest healthcare provider. The other three managed care operators will be Blue Cross Blue Shield New Mexico, Molina Health Care of New Mexico and UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of New Mexico.

The four companies will provide managed care to the 700,000 New Mexico Medicaid beneficiaries.

New Mexico first announced it was restructuring its Medicaid program, now known as Centennial Care, last year. Centennial Care will go live Jan. 1, 2014, and will focus on coordination of care, health literacy, preventive services, patient-centered medical homes and payment reforms to reward cost-effective care.
