News reports confirmed Mr. Ario’s departure early Tuesday. According to Steve Larsen, director of the Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight with CMS, planning for state exchanges will continue as intended in Mr. Ario’s absence.
It remains unclear why Mr. Ario is leaving or who will replace him. He joined HHS last year after working as Pennsylvania’s insurance commissioner since 2007.
