St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center in Syracuse, N.Y., is permanently adding 20 beds to accommodate growing patient volume from smaller regional hospitals, according to a report on syracuse.com.
Here are three things to know about the move.
1. The 20 intensive care beds were added last year on a temporary basis.
2. Now, the New York State Department of Health has approved the hospital's request to keep the beds, according to the report.
3. With the added beds, St. Joseph's will expand from a 431-bed hospital to a 451-bed hospital.
