SSM Health opens rehab hospital at St. Joseph Hospital-Lake St. Louis

St. Louis-based SSM Health opened a 30-bed, $20.5 million rehabilitation hospital inside SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital-Lake St. Louis, according to the St. Louis Business Journal.

The “hospital within a hospital” is part of a joint venture between SSM Health and Mechanicsburg, Pa.-based Select Medical Corp. It is housed on the fifth floor of the St. Joseph facility, according to the report.

The rehab hospital features a brain injury unit, as well as rehabilitative care for a range of medical conditions, including cancer, amputations and neurological disorders.

SSM Health announced its plan to build the rehab facility in 2015.
