The capital project, nicknamed “Hope + Healing” will be funded by community fundraising, grant funding and hospital reserves, said River Hospital CEO Ben Moore III, according to the report.
“To meet the growing needs of these communities, River Hospital must expand its infrastructure and enhance its services,” Mr. Moore said. He added the project will improve the hospital’s alignment with New York’s Delivery System Reform Incentive Payment program, which relies on the integration of primary care and outpatient mental healthcare as a way of preventing unnecessary emergency room admissions, according to the report.
As part of the project, the emergency department will increase from five to eight patient bays. It will also acquire an additional ambulance entrance, a decontamination area and a new patient-access area, according to the report.
The new 26,000-square-foot facility, which will stand three stories high, will be constructed to the west of the main campus and account for $4.8 million of the total $7.25 million cost of the hospital’s expansion project.
