The donation will fund several capital projects and initiatives, and in honor of the gift, the building that houses the Herscot Center for Children and Adults with Tuberous Sclerosis Complex will be renamed the Carol and James Herscot Building.
The Herscots established the center with a $10 million gift in 2005 and continued their support with a $17.5 million donation in 2017. Their son Brad has had tuberous sclerosis complex for almost 50 years.
“Jim and Carol have been among the hospital’s strongest supporters and champions for more than 50 years,” said Peter Slavin, MD, president of Massachusetts General. “Their vision, friendship and generosity have been enormously helpful to advancing the MGH mission.”
