Lee Health to build medical complex, urgent care facility

Fort Myers, Fla.-based Lee Health will build a medical complex and urgent care center near its Panama City, Fla.-based Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center, news-press.com reports.

Lee Health will operate the 40,000-square-foot multispecialty clinic and walk-in urgent care center as a part of its Lee Physician Group practice. During its first year, Lee Health estimates 80 to 100 patients will visit the clinic each day.

"We had been looking for space for an urgent care, and wanting it to be very close to the (Gulf Coast) campus to try to offload some of the lower acuity emergency department (patient) volumes — to give the option to the public to go to an urgent care versus going to the ER if it's minor enough," David Cato, Lee Health's chief administrative officer for outpatient services, told news-press.com.

The complex is slated to open next October.
