The proposed 200,000-square-foot facility will house an enlarged surgery center, an orthopedic center of excellence, an expanded breast center, a therapy practice, physician offices and a retail pharmacy.
Lawrence Memorial’s proposed facility will not house any inpatient services, as those will be done at the main hospital campus. Hospital officials said the new facility will increase its foothold in the outpatient arena.
The original proposal called for the outpatient facility to house an urgent care clinic; however, leaders shelved that plan because they were not ready to enter that market.
Lawrence Memorial’s must receive approval from the Lawrence-Douglas County Planning Commission to begin the construction. If approved, construction would begin June 1 and wrap up in early 2020.
