Baylor Scott & White Health to open $30M heart hospital

Dallas-based Baylor Scott & White Health hopes to begin construction this month on a $30 million heart hospital on the Baylor Scott & White Medical Center McKinney (Texas) campus, according to The Dallas Morning News.

The 35,000-square-foot heart hospital will serve patients who need cardiovascular care in Texas' Collin and Grayson counties and parts of Oklahoma, according to Baylor Scott & White Health executives. The facility will be built on the northwest corner of the existing campus.

The facility will include an outpatient nursing unit, four procedure rooms, 22 ambulatory surgery beds and will offer more complex heart procedures, such as electrophysiological services and catheterization, LaVone Arthur, Baylor's chief strategy officer, told The Dallas Morning News. The heart hospital will add 60 employees to the medical campus.

The hospital is expected to open in the first quarter of 2019.
