If approved by the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board, the two-story, 30,000-square-foot expansion will be home to orthopedic services and heart and vascular services at the hospital.

The new addition would feature six operating rooms dedicated to orthopedic operations, a cardiac testing and rehabilitation area and a clinic that will provide outpatient care for congestive heart failure patients.

“The primary goal is modernization of the facility,” Amita Health CEO Michael Murrill told the Chicago Tribune.
