5 hospitals planning facility upgrades, expansions

The following hospitals announced or completed plans in the last week to expand, upgrade or renovate their facilities. 

1. HCA challenges Lee Health's 'monopolistic dominance' with plan for new Florida hospital
Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare submitted an 817-page proposal to Florida regulators outlining its plan to build an 80-bed hospital in Estero, Fla.

2. Mercy Health to open portion of $271M facility in September
Muskegon, Mich.-based Mercy Health, which is part of Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health, is slated to open a portion of its $271 million facility in September.

3. St. Luke's University Health Network breaks ground on $100M hospital
St. Luke's University Health Network's Anderson Campus, which is based in Easton, Pa., began construction on a $100 million facility April 13.

4. U of Maryland hospital seeks state OK for $50M transformation into outpatient facility
University of Maryland Laurel Regional Hospital is seeking approval from the Maryland Health Care Commission to embark on a $50 million transformation project, which includes a focus on outpatient care. 

5. Indiana University Health prepares for $1B transformation
Indianapolis-based Indiana University Health is preparing for a major consolidation project, which is expected to cost $1 billion.
