$15M expansion underway at Douglas County Hospital: 4 things to know

Alexandria, Minn.-based Douglas County Hospital broke ground on a $15 million expansion project Sept. 30, reports Twin Cities Business.

Here are four things to know about the project.

  1. The expansion will increase the hospital's number of operating rooms from six to 10, add eight new pre- and post-operative rooms and create 22 new exam rooms in its specialty clinic center, among other projects.

  2. In total, 25,600 square feet of the hospital will be renovated and almost 7,700 square feet of space will be added.

  3. This project marks the hospital's second major expansion the hospital this decade and the second most expensive expansion since its founding in 1955, the report states.

  4. The expansion is slated for completion in 18 months.
