Roberta Schwartz, PhD, is executive vice president of Houston Methodist Hospital and chief innovation officer for the Houston Methodist system, a founding institution of the Texas Medical Center. She is the founder and leader of Houston Methodist’s Center for Innovation, which advances digital innovation platforms spanning telemedicine, artificial intelligence and big data with a focus on patient and physician experience and operational efficiency.
She previously served as director of business development at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City and worked as a consultant and project manager to academic medical centers, including engagements involving the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. She earned her undergraduate degree with honors from Barnard College at Columbia University in New York City, a master’s degree in health science from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, and a doctorate from the University of Texas School of Public Health.
She is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and serves on the advisory board of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Her work focuses on translating emerging technology into measurable improvements in care delivery. She is a widely recognized voice on hospital innovation and digital transformation.
