Redonda Miller, MD, MBA, is president of The Johns Hopkins Hospital, the flagship academic medical center of Johns Hopkins Medicine, a role she has held since 2016 as the hospital’s 11th president and the first woman to lead it.
Dr. Miller oversees an approximately 1,100-bed institution with around 11,000 employees and roughly $3.5 billion in operating revenue. A Johns Hopkins-trained internist, she earned her medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and completed her internship and residency on the renowned Osler Medical Service, later earning an MBA from the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School. She rose through the institution as a faculty member and chief resident, then as vice chair for clinical operations in the Department of Medicine and vice president for medical affairs before becoming hospital president.
Under her leadership, the hospital has remained on the U.S. News & World Report Honor Roll and earned consecutive Magnet designations for nursing excellence. Recognized as a leader in academic medicine, quality and operational excellence, she has guided the hospital through the pandemic and ongoing transformation in academic healthcare. Widely respected for combining clinical credibility with executive leadership, her tenure reflects a deep, career-long commitment to the Johns Hopkins mission.
