The tool automatically factors in information including co-pay, deductibles and need for prior authorization and displays the data in the EHR. The information, which is readily available to pharmacists who fill the prescription, does not typically become available to patients until they fill the prescription.
With the tool, clinicians and patients can quickly in real-time compare the price of the medication with different drugs that produce similar effects.
