Frederick, Md.-based health system Frederick Health recently went live with a Meditech EHR allowing clinicians to incorporate discrete genetic data from its genetics lab into their decision-making.

With Meditech’s Expanse Genomics system, “Providers no longer need to sift through 30 pages of a .pdf document to locate relevant information on their patients,” Robert Wack, MD, Frederick Health’s chief medical information officer, stated in a July 21 news release from Meditech.

Meditech’s system allows inbound results from a genetic test to match with the correct patient, and Frederick Health reported its test ordering and waiting times have been cut in half since implementing the Meditech system.

“What makes this solution unique is that genetic testing results are filed discreetly into the patient’s record and clinical decision support is built into the system with continuous updates to keep information current,” Frederick Health CIO Jackie Rice said in the news release.
