Apple created a health records feature on the iPhone, which was created on based on FHIR, or Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources, standard. The FHIR standard facilitates transfer of EHRs.
Henry Ford patients can now enroll through the ‘Health Records’ section of Apple’s Health app. They can use their Henry Ford MyChart login and password, and authorize the release of their health records to the Health app. The patients can then use their iPhone app to see their medical information from participating institutions, including conditions, immunizations, lab results, medications and vitals. The data is encrypted.
More than 100 hospitals, health systems and clinics now support the health records feature, according to Apple.
