Epic sees in-person work as best way to serve physicians, nurses

Epic Systems has been requiring its workers to go back into the office every day since January 2022, with a company employee stating that the mandate is its "true North Star" in ensuring its team is helping physicians and nurses do their best work, Wisconsin State Journal reported Aug. 4.

Epic's policy requires its 13,000 employees to work in the office almost every day, with employees being granted 10 half-days a year to work remotely.

Nate Bubb, technical services division lead at Epic, told the publication that in-person work was the only "viable" way the company could move forward. Mr. Bubb said for Epic, the in-person work is here to stay.

"Being able to walk down the hall and hop into a room, do complex things together, that's the majority of the time," Mr. Bubb said. "That will be the way we continue to serve our community."
