Here are four things to know.
1. As part of its market research effort into IT solutions to streamline its EHR transition, the Defense Health Agency issued a special notice on FedBizOpps.gov April 17, seeking input from relevant vendors by May 4.
2. The notice centers on the Military Health System’s plan to consolidate enterprise data storage systems. To support this process, the Defense Health Agency is interested in learning more about IT tools to manage these enterprise data management systems.
3. Another component of the Military Health System’s vision for its EHR project involves migrating “large volumes of data” from its current systems to its new commercial EHR.
“The anticipated increase in clinical data from the new EHR, and the need to integrate decades of historical health and business system data, will require a robust enterprise reference and metadata management system,” the notice reads.
4. The notice specifies the agency is seeking enterprise reference and metadata management systems that are able to interface with Cerner subsystems. The rollout of the DOD’s Cerner EHR — which will replace its legacy healthcare systems across three continental U.S. regions and two regions overseas — kicked off in February 2017 and will run through 2022
