Boston Children’s had been using a combination of Cerner and Epic but recently signed a contract with Epic to move to the single EHR.

“The entire IT department is working hard to make this transition as painless as possible,” the medical center stated on its website.

Pediatric residents involved in the hospital’s Digital Innovation Network for House Officers, or DINHO Squad, will serve as trainee liaisons during the move, which is expected to be completed next summer.

“Providing feedback on note templates and ideal workflows to reduce clicks and time, residents have a key voice in designing our EHR for the future and making sure it works for everyone involved from the experienced clinician to the youngest patient,” Boston Children’s said.

Other notable health systems have recently said they would be switching to Epic for their EHRs, including Pittsburgh-based UPMC and Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Health.
