As part of the initiative, Allscripts team members will work with payer and technology partners to ensure prescription price transparency at the point of care. This information might include data related to a medication price from a pharmacy benefit manager, alternative therapies and competitive prices from different pharmacies.
By considering patients’ clinical and financial needs, Allscripts officials hope to improve the likelihood of medication adherence.
“This initiative ensures that physicians and their patients will have full knowledge of the price of medications and discounts available to them,” said Jay Bhattacharyya, senior vice president and general manager of payer and life sciences at Allscripts.
