Man threatens ER staff with knife at Connecticut hospital

A man threatened emergency room staff at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London, Conn., with a knife early Friday morning, injuring one hospital employee, according to a NBC Connecticut report.

Hospital security contacted police just before 12:30 a.m. while staff restrained the suspect. Police identified the suspect as 35-year-old Carlos Rodriguez of New London, Conn., who allegedly yelled profanities and broke hospital medical equipment while holding a knife and threatening hospital staff.

Police said one member of the hospital staff sustained a minor injury while attempting to restrain Mr. Rodriguez. 

Mr. Rodriguez was charged with assault of a public safety officer, carrying a dangerous weapon, second-degree threatening, breach of peace and third-degree criminal mischief.
