Walmart pilots in-store mammograms

Walmart is expanding its foray into healthcare through a new partnership with the diagnostic imaging services company RadNet.

RadNet is offering in-store mammograms at a Walmart Supercenter in Milford, Del., as part of an 18-month pilot program launched Dec. 8. The diagnostic center will conduct walk-in or scheduled mammograms in 15 minutes, according to the Delaware Business Times. The long-term goal is to offer all patients same-day results. For an out-of-pocket cost, patients can also opt for RadNet's enhanced breast cancer detection service, which uses AI to improve disease detection.

During the pilot, RadNet will launch an awareness campaign about the importance of breast cancer screenings and may expand to additional Walmart locations.

The goal is to make breast cancer screenings more accessible through proactive, community-based healthcare, the companies said.
