Google Cloud looks to streamline prior authorizations

Google Cloud is teaming up with Inovalon to build an artificial intelligence-enabled tool designed to ease the administrative burden in healthcare.

Here are three things to know:

  1. The collaboration will combine Google Cloud’s AI and machine learning capabilities with Inovalon’s data solutions and expertise, according to an Aug. 26 news release.  The companies said the goal is to simplify prior authorization processes, which contribute to clinician burnout and can delay patient care.

  2. Inovalon is developing an AI agent that would surface payer-specific rules and documentation requirements to make prior authorization more efficient.

  3. The tool will be built on the Inovalon ONE Platform, which supports more than 50,000 healthcare organizations and is powered by the MORE2 Registry, containing more than 92 billion medical events and data on 414 million unique lives.

At the Becker's 11th Annual IT + Revenue Cycle Conference: The Future of AI & Digital Health, taking place September 14–17 in Chicago, healthcare executives and digital leaders from across the country will come together to explore how AI, interoperability, cybersecurity, and revenue cycle innovation are transforming care delivery, strengthening financial performance, and driving the next era of digital health.
