UPMC gets $3.7M to boost digital, in-person behavioral health for moms on Medicaid

The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute has awarded the UPMC Center for High-Value Health Care $3.76 million on Dec. 22 to improve digital and in-person access to behavioral health for moms on Medicaid.

Three details:

1. The researchers will use the funding to figure out how to better structure digital tools and in-person services to make sure Medicaid beneficiaries have access to behavioral health, including digital health coaches.

2. The project will examine the current standard of care to connect pregnant and postpartum women to behavioral health providers; use a digital tool for behavioral health education and self-management; and provide a digital health coach.

3. The digital services are provided through UPMC Health Plan's mobile app RxWell. The app has educational content, self-guided exercises and goal-setting to help manage stress, anxiety and depression.
