MUSC Health partnership leads hospital to rebrand, switch from Oracle Cerner to Epic

A South Carolina hospital has rebranded and will move its EHR from Oracle Cerner to Epic after its partnership with Charleston, S.C.-based MUSC Health, The Times and Democrat reported.

The former Regional Medical Center, based in Orangeburg, S.C., is now MUSC Health Orangeburg, according to the March 1 agreement under which MUSC Health will oversee the hospital and its ambulatory practices. MUSC spent $15 million to finalize the partnership, the newspaper reported.

The Orangeburg hospital also plans to migrate its EHR from Oracle Cerner to Epic, MUSC Heath's EHR vendor, according to the March 4 story.

"We are focused heavily on the future, telehealth, new electronic health records, all kinds of things we are working on," MUSC Health CEO Patrick Cawley, MD, said at an event covered by The Times and Democrat.
