Indianapolis-based Indiana University Health has renamed one of its hospitals.
As of July 1, Indiana University Health Saxony Hospital in Fishers, Ind., will be known as IU Health Fishers, according to a health system news release.
The name change is part of a $300 million expansion project designed to enhance healthcare access and services in Fishers — now the fourth-largest city in Indiana — and the northeast suburbs of Indianapolis.
The project will expand the Fishers hospital campus by nearly 50% and include stand-alone outpatient physician office developments in McCordsville, Ind., and Fishers, according to the release.
The hospital will add 38 inpatient beds and expand services in OB-GYN, ENT, nephrology, neurology and pulmonology.
While the project timeline varies for different project components, the hospital expansion will be complete in October and is expected to double the hospital’s workforce, according to the release.
