New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Northwell Health inked a multiyear deal with patient engagement platform Playback Health to provide patients with resources and care plan information via audio, video, picture and text.

Playback’s patient engagement platform is designed to share health data captured in a hospital’s EHR and patient portals, according to a Nov. 30 news release shared with Becker‘s. With the platform, clinicians can create personalized care instructions using video, audio, pictures and text to communicate a patient’s diagnosis and care plan.

The platform also has a video calling function, which lets clinicians directly connect with their patients for telehealth visits or check-ins. Patients who use Playback’s platform can share their information with others, including family and additional providers.

Northwell invested in Playback in August 2018; the health system launched the technology as part of a pilot program earlier this year at Northwell Glen Cove (N.Y.) Hospital and will now roll out the program at select locations, according to the news release.

Northwell comprises 22 hospitals and 830 outpatient facilities.
