Kaiser Permanente’s Sidney R. Garfield Health Care Innovation Center (San Leandro, Calif.).Bearing the name of Kaiser Permanente’s founding physician, the Sidney R. Garfield Innovation Center launched in June 2006 to carry on Dr. Garfield’s legacy of innovative hospital design, care delivery and embracing the power of computers in healthcare. An ongoing project at the center involves integrating hotel customer service into the healthcare experience with interactive patient care technology that both engages patients and streamlines workflows. While the center is intended for use by Kaiser Permanente employees, it does offer limited availability for visitors from outside the Kaiser organization.
