Florida law enforcement officials raided Ms. Jones’ home on Dec. 7 and accused her of inappropriately accessing the state health department’s communications platform and sending a message to users urging them to speak up about COVID-19-related deaths. Police confiscated Ms. Jones’ computer, phone and other hardware.
In the lawsuit, Ms. Jones suggests her IP address was spoofed to hack the Florida health department’s communication’s platform. The lawsuit also states the platform’s login credentials are posted online.
Ms. Jones has attributed her ouster to her refusal to change data to support Florida’s reopening and says in her lawsuit that the raid was carried out to silence her and curry favor with Florida’s governor, Ron DeSantis. She also has filed a whistleblower complaint, according to NBC.
Ms. Jones is seeking the return of her computer and other devices as well as $30,000 in damages.
