Healthcare RCM company reports third-party breach affecting 489,000+ patients

Healthcare revenue cycle management firm Intellihartx disclosed that 489,830 patients were affected by a third-party data breach involving a file transfer software called GoAnywhere from third-party vendor Fortra.

In a June 9 filing with the Maine Attorney General's Office, Intellihartx said its patients had some of their information exposed as a result of a breach on Forta, which reportedly happened in late January.

The breach compromised patients' names, addresses, medical billing and insurance information, certain medical information, demographic information and Social Security numbers.

On June 8, Intellihartx began notifying all affected individuals.

Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems was also affected by the Forta breach, which compromised the personal health information of about 1 million of its patients.
