Google warns users of delays in detecting COVID-19 scams as workers move online

Google is notifying consumers and users that there may be delays as the company’s workforce transitions to work remotely amid the COVID-19 outbreak, according to CNBC.

In a blog post March 16, Google confirmed that all of its products and services will remain active. However, “some users, advertisers, developers and publishers may experience delays in some support response times for non-critical services, which will not be supported primarily through our chat, email and self-service channels,” Google said, CNBC reports.

Google is relying more on automation and technology rather than “human reviews.” As a result, Google said that there may be delays in responding to COVID-19 scams, inappropriate ad placements and other advertisement reviews.

Google announced March 16 that the majority of its global workforce has been mandated to work from home for the foreseeable future.
