The health system said staffers inadvertently permitted vendor access to the platform, disclosing patient data such as names, dates of birth, medical diagnoses and lab results. UT Southwestern Medical Center reported Dec. 9 to HHS that 43,048 individuals were affected.
“UTSW has implemented robust processes to limit the amount of information shared with third-party vendors and will continue monitoring for sensitive data leaving its network and systems,” the health system said in a statement on its website.
