Dr. McConnell made almost $2.5 million last year compared with $1.68 million in FY 2010, according to the report. He received more than $461,000 in benefits that he had to forfeit when he left the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Dr. McConnell, who has headed Wake Forest Baptist since 2008, had to work at Wake Forest Baptist at least two years to recoup the one-time payment.
Other components of Dr. McConnell’s 2011 compensation included an $878,909 base salary, $500,000 in bonuses and incentives and almost $10,000 for country club dues, according to the report.
Wake Forest Baptist’s President and COO Thomas Sibert, MD, and CFO Edward Chadwick also received raises. Dr. Sibert made $995,133 last year, a 2 percent increase, while Mr. Chadwick’s $974,587 compensation package was a 32 percent increase from 2010.
